2023 Ford F-150 4×4 SuperCrew XLT – Current Truck

We upgraded our truck in 2023 because we were starting to experience some intermittent engine stalling problems, which made it difficult to troubleshoot. We wanted the extended range 36-gallon gas tank, 3.5 V-6 Ecoboost for more torque, upgraded Sync display, 10-speed transmission, and the 3.55 differential. We gave up our Lariat luxuries like the leather interior, folding side mirrors, and pre-programmed seat positions.

2015 Ford F-150 4×4 SuperCrew Lariat – First Truck

We purchased this truck used in 2019, and it quickly proved to be a fantastic choice. It was a beautiful vehicle that performed admirably, towing our trailer coast to coast with only one minor issue over four years. We opted for an F-150 instead of an F-250 because it fit perfectly in our garage, met all the specifications for towing our trailer, and provided a smoother, more comfortable ride thanks to its suspension—something we valued during our long touring trips.
We chose a gas engine over diesel due to its lower cost and the added flexibility of the multi-fuel option, which was especially useful in the rural areas we frequently visited. The extended cab offered excellent, easily accessible storage and plenty of room for passengers.
The only drawback was its performance on very steep grades, where it occasionally struggled. However, it still kept pace with semis in the slow lane, so it never posed a significant issue for us. Overall, it was a reliable and well-suited truck for our travel needs.
