DRIVE TO POINT LABADDIE BREWERY
When we left Great Escape RV Park near Higginsville, we headed out on our big adventure towards Metropolis, IL/Paducah, KY. To keep with our goal of only traveling 3 hours of Google time each day, we had to camp overnight in St Louis. We had originally selected 370 Lakeside Park and RV Campground near St Louis but because of the intense flooding along the Missouri River over this last month, it had gotten flooded out and we had to find another campground.
We decided to use our Harvest Host membership to find a campground. Harvest hosts is a club of businesses, mostly wineries, that allow you to camp overnight in their parking lot for free. I coordinated for us to stay at one of these hosts called Labaddie Brewery just on the southwestern edge of St Louis.
POINT LABADDIE BREWERY
The trip there was uneventful though we had to add about 30 minutes to the route to avoid some road closures due to the flood. When we got to the Brewery, they directed us to a corner of the parking lot about 100 yards from the brewery near a wood line where it was fairly flat. We left the truck connected to the trailer since we did not plan on going anywhere beyond the brewery and we would be able to leave quickly the next morning. A cold front was coming through that day so even though we did not have the power to run our air conditioner, the temperature was expected to be comfortable.
After securing the trailer, we walked up to the brewery, sat at the bar, and enjoyed some of their beers and live music. We even enjoyed playing some corn hole outside, though we both did poorly.
While at the bar, we meet another couple there that were camping at a local KOA. They told us that they had to cut their trip short and was heading home because they had an airbag malfunction in their Class A. They offered us some unused tickets to the Bulleit Distillery in Louisville but asked if we could ship them the empty souvenir bottle, so we decided to take them up on their offer.
When we made it back to our trailer we watched a Netflix show on my laptop by using my phone as a hotspot and then went to bed listening to the very loud frogs.
