Boondocking in an RV is when you camp without hookups to electricity, water, or sewage. Temperatures between 40 and 70 degrees Fahrenheit are ideal in order to avoid having to run A/C or a heater.
Considerations
- Electricity
- Generators (Solar, Gas)
- Batteries and Inverters (recharged with Solar or Gas)
- Water – There are a few main activities that will drain your water: drinking, regular bathroom use, showers, and dishes.
- You can cut down on using water in the bathroom by using public facilities throughout the day.
- Opt for showering at a local gym, national park bathroom, or jump in a lake. Or skip showers altogether in favor of wipes.
- Use paper plates, grill instead of using pots and pans, or meal prep before boondocking so you don’t cook as much.
