The Journey from Goshen to Hersey
We left around 8 am from the Elkhart Fairgrounds and headed north toward Hersey, MI. Most of the route was along US 131, which took us 3 hours and 40 minutes. We made one gas stop at a Love’s Travel Stop outside Kalamazoo.
Blodgett Landing Campground
Blodgett Landing Campground is located at the junction of the Hersey River and Muskegon Rivers in the small village of Hersey. It has 29 sites with 15 FHU, 12 W/E, and eight rustic sites along a large circular road around the park. The park’s center had two large shelters with picnic tables, a large visitor parking lot, a playground, and a shower house. It was located near a public access kayak and tube launch, a very popular sport here. There was also an observation deck where you could overlook the Muskegon River.
After checking in with the host, we were assigned a non-shaded full hookup site, where my brother joined us as soon as we were set up.
Over the next several days, we visited with my brother and his family.
On Monday, we topped off at the local gas station, took off at about 9:30, and headed south to visit my sister in Tennessee.
